They Are known to chew into eaves, soffits, and sides of structures.  Nesting is done for two different reasons, to have pups and the other for male squirrels to nest near a female. Squirrels can chew wire casings in attic spaces, which can be a fire hazard to your home.  They are active during the day and sleep at night just like we do.
